MUMBLINGS March 2, 2006

Please pardon my personal references on faultfinders. The greatest fault is the fault of faultfinders.

Quite frankly, I’m getting tired of the politicians, vote seekers and general fault finders continually criticizing everybody because of the mistake made in the greatest tragedy America has ever had, the Katrina hurricane.

Of course, many mistakes were made. But no one in their vaguest imagination conceived that Katrina would produce such great devastation and human suffering. Its time the politicians and others of like nature started working to correct things for the next such invasion of ferocity, which we certainly hope never happens. And well, may not. But we need to be prepared and to quit finding fault with mistakes made in Katrina.

Seems today I am a faultfinder. Eastern liberal press, especially a few TV commentators, are continually erroneously finding fault with what is happening in the Middle East.

People should realize that terrorists in Iraq, Iran and other countries are out to kill us.

Recently a tape was found quoting Sadam where he said they were preparing to drop an atomic bomb or deadly chemicals in the middle of New York. Yet one commentator who is always finding fault with the United States at our actions said, “That they still found no indication of mass killing chemicals or atomic bombs.”

Being a journalism graduate of the admittedly best journalism school in America, the University of Missouri, they taught us over and over again that a journalist should report the true facts but also be fair. If you think about it, there is a lot of difference in many instances.

A good instance of how the Muslims and others of such faith want to stir up world trouble is illustrated when a small Denmark newspaper cartoonist printed an uncomplimentary cartoon of Mohammed. The anti-Christian world demonstrated by millions trying to stir up hatred of the United States and other countries of like Christian faith.

Please don’t get the mistaken idea that I’m finding too much criticism of what is going on in many circles. I still have faith, confidence and love for the greatest country on earth. Being human, we do make errors but we do make fewer than citizens of most countries.

I love Uncle Sam. I love Christ, and I love people who do not agree with me but I do not respect them as highly as I do those who do agree that this is a great country inhabited by a great people.

Along this line of thought let me print a recent quote sent to this column from California:

Theodore Roosevelt made this statement in 1907…“In the first place we should insist if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with anyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man’s becoming in very fact an American and nothing but an American…there can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag.”

Hopefully, next week I will get back on the Seven Wonders of the World.

See you again soon, I hope.
