| Emergency Common Sense
If threatened by a made-made or natural disaster, everyone most probably has a
2-feet tall stack of lists "in case of an emergency." A HAM could
tell you a lot about practice and preparation, we do that normally.
Storm, power is out. Simply go around and turn it off. Then have your
basic alternate ready to turn on.
Batteries, good choice! Check to make sure your stuff is matched and
connected properly and set up to go in A SAFE PLACE! Everyone
there!
It is over, and I want my generator! Is everything spec? Around KD4TTE
we double if 10 amps@110 v. We us a 20 amp@110v as in extension cord ratings.
If it is tested to run 4 hours at maximum we use something that will run 8
hours (for 4 hours) use at double what we will need. With spare parts ready.
Is it grounded? UPS'd? Filtered? Have I considered all problem AND
trouble-shooting, and is it "child-proof?"
Clean up and, clean an area for your systems to run and don't forget the
"After Disaster Party." Congratulations for surviving.
