Baptists have long been known as a people of the Book. Over the last 20 years the authority of Scripture has been a matter of debate among many in the Southern Baptist Convention. Baptists do not worship the Bible; they worship the Author of the Bible, our Sovereign God. While we do not worship the Bible we recognize it to be the very words of our Creator and our only authoratative guide for life.
