EDUCATION
| The importance of lifelong
learning is well understood in Gulf Coast communities. It begins with early
childcare and public and private kindergarten
programs. There are enrichment programs for gifted and
talented students and special services for persons with disabilities.
Baldwin County's Public Schools have kept pace with
the county's high rate of growth through a program of building and expansion.

County students rank above the
national average on standardized tests. The state's only residential high
school for math and sciences is located in mobile.
A skilled and willing workforce is a key to economic growth. That's the goal of
the highly successful workforce readiness program of the Mobile Public Schools and post-secondary vocational and
technical training institutions. |
| Technical training in the area includes aviation
and sports technology. There are several community
colleges available to everyone, like Faulkner State
Community College, located in Baldwin County. Colleges range from small,
private liberal arts schools such as Springhill College and University of
Mobile to the University of South Alabama, with its full complement of academic
programs and an outstanding medical school. |
