Alabama's Gulf Coast offers the beautiful white sand Gulf beaches, bountiful bays, fresh water lakes, the intracoastal waterway, championship golf courses, fishing, resort and country living, outlet shopping, and the freshest seafood that can be found. A small town atmosphere with plentiful opportunities.  What's the Climate? Coastal Alabama lies in the southern sub-tropical area of North America, where mild temperatures greet visitors year-round. Gulf Breezes temper the typically hot summer weather, and spring and fall days are usually warm with cool evenings.  What to Wear? Casual attire is the usual fare in Orange Beach/Gulf Shores and is accepted at most restaurants and other public areas. In summer, wear very light clothing, such as shorts and T-shirts. Bring a hat for the beach or walking in the sun, and sunscreen is a must. In early spring and late fall, lightweight clothing with longer sleeves and pants is all you'll need for daytime, with a sweater for evenings. In winter, long pants long sleeves, and sweater or jacket is usually enough to keep you warm.
 Transportation? Orange Beach/Gulf Shores is easily accessed by Interstate 10 and 65 and US Highway 98. Major airlines serve both Pensacola, a 45-minute drive fro mOrange Beach, and Mobile, a one-hour drive from Gulf Shores. Private and corporate aircraft are served by the fully equipped Jack Edwards Airport in Gulf Shores with its 5,400 foot E/W and 3,600 foot N/S runways.
