Acer Palmatum Var. Dissectum Atropurpureum Cutleaf Japanese Maple is an ornamental tree. Var. Dissectum Atropurpureum Cutleaf Japanese Maple prefers full sun to partial sun and exhibits delicate, ferny, lace-like leaves that are deep purple in spring, change to bronze-green in summer, and finally to fiery orange-red in fall. The leaves contain very thin lobes that are further dissected into sub-lobes. Small reddish flowers bloom in spring. This tree is ideal for use as banks and slopes, beds and borders, and thrives in moist, organically rich, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. It grows up to 6-8 feet tall.
