Aesculus Hippocastanum Horsechestnut grows best under full sun or part shade and moist, fertile soils. Horsechestnut is a deciduous shade tree with an upright-oval growth habit. It is perfect for landscape plantings and shades. The shade tree produces showy, creamy-white flowers with red or yellow markings, blooming in late spring. The flowers give way to spiny dehiscent capsules containing one or two horse chestnut(s) covered by a leathery brown husk. Horsechestnut bears dark green leaves with 5 to 7 leaflets.
