Arctostaphylos Uva-Ursi Bearberry Kinnikinnick is an evergreen shrub with a creeping habit. The trailing red stems of Kinnikinnick are clothed in tiny, obovate, leathery dark green leaves. The leaves acquire red or purple shades in winter and become green in spring. Kinnikinnick produces masses of white to pink, lantern-shaped blooms from mid to late spring. The blooms give way to smooth, shiny edible berries that mature to bright red during fall. Kinnikinnick thrives in full sun to partial shade and acidic, dry to medium, moderately fertile, well-drained soils. The slow-growing shrub is ideal for banks, slopes, and shrub borders.
