Cardiospermum halicacabum, commonly known as balloon vine or love-in-a-puff, is a fast-growing, climbing vine notable for its distinctive papery, inflated seed capsules that resemble small balloons. These capsules contain black seeds marked with a white heart-shaped pattern, a unique characteristic that gives the plant its name ("Cardiospermum" meaning "heart seed"). Native to tropical and subtropical regions, this vine thrives in disturbed areas, climbing over shrubs and fences with its delicate tendrils. Beyond its ornamental appeal, it has traditional medicinal uses, particularly in treating skin disorders, inflammation, and joint pain.
