Gaultheria Procumbens Wintergreen is a low-growing, evergreen groundcover. It showcases clusters of shiny, leathery, rounded leaves that turn reddish in winter and release an aromatic scent when crushed. Wintergreen prefers acidic, evenly moist, organically rich, well-drained soils and full to part shade. It bears tiny, bell-shaped, nodding white or pinkish flowers that appear in the leaf axils during summer. The blossoms give way to edible scarlet berries that remain throughout winter. The shrub is ideal for beds, borders, banks, and slopes.
