Prunus Americana American Plum

Prunus Americana American Plum is a large, multi-stemmed tree with spreading habit, sometimes growing as a thicket of large shrubs. The American Plum will bear clusters of round, red plums that ripen in summer, used in making jams and jellies. The flat clusters of scented, white flowers appear in mid-spring, followed by the oval, toothed, dark green leaves which turn red to pale yellow in fall. This ornamental tree is a great choice for supporting pollinators and wildlife, or as a screen due to it's occasional thorny branches. American Plum grows best in dry to medium, well-drained soils under full sun or partial shade.
