Sorghastrum Nutans Sioux Blue Indian Grass consists of upright clumps of metallic-blue, slender leaves. Sioux Blue Indian Grass grows best in average, dry to medium, well-drained soils and full sun. The leaves turn yellow during fall and retain the golden tinges in winter. The vertical flowering stems of Sioux Blue Indian Grass are endowed with narrow panicles of feathery, light brown blooms with yellow stamens in late summer. The blooms change to bronze or chestnut brown on maturing. Sioux Blue Indian Grass is best suited for mass plantings, meadows, and naturalized areas. The accent grass has a narrow, upright form.
