Description

A striking evergreen succulent hybrid of Yucca rupicola and Y. pallida, commonly known as Blue Twistleaf Yucca, this plant forms compact clumps ~1–2 ft tall and 2–3 ft wide with twisted, blue-gray, lance-shaped foliage. In late spring to early summer it sends up open, 5–6 ft tall spikes of creamy-white, bell-shaped flowers that attract yucca moths, bees, and hummingbirds. Native to central Texas under mesquites and oaks, it thrives in sun to part shade on dry, rocky soils and is hardy to at least –10 °F (Zone 7a). Clumping habit makes it ideal for small-space xeriscapes; it also serves as a host for the Giant Skipper butterfly larvae.
