Osmanthus Americanus American Olive displays urn-shaped, white springtime blossoms. The blooms mature on the last year's growth. Dark blue, berry-like drupes hang from American Olive like olives and ripen during fall. The evergreen tree prefers moist, well-drained, neutral, acidic soils with deep shade, full sun, and partial shade. The multi-trunked evergreen shrub is appropriate for small trees, barriers, and woodlands. It grows in an irregular and open manner. This shrub is made up of simple, dark green, leathery leaves with smooth to slightly wavy margins and rusty undersides. If grown in the sun, they become yellow-green in the fall.
