Stems eventually branch near their tips, forming a shrub with a broad top and a narrow base. Edward Goucher Glossy Abelia's cascading habit makes it an ideal specimen, foundation shrub, or border shrub. The foliage emerges maroon and fades to dark green during active growth, giving the shrub a reddish cast. The small powderpuff-pink flowers add color throughout the warm months. Edward Goucher Glossy Abelia grows best in full sun or light shade in rich, moist but well-drained soil.
