Catalpa Speciosa Northern Catalpa

Catalpa Speciosa Northern Catalpa is a large deciduous shade tree with a rounded, sometimes irregular crown. Northern Catalpa bears large, heart-shaped light green leaves with shiny upper surfaces and dense hair on the undersides. The leaves turn yellow in the fall. The tree prefers average, moist, well-drained soil and full sun or partial shade, but tolerates many conditions. In late spring to early summer, clusters of trumpet-shaped white flowers adorned with yellow stripes and purple specks on their throats appear on Northern Catalpa. The flowers give way to long slender seedpods that mature to dark brown in fall and stay throughout winter.
