Clethra Alnifolia Ruby Spice Summersweet's panicles of fragrant, sweet-smelling white flowers, which bloom from mid to late summer, are what make it so famous. Dark brown seed capsules may last all winter long after the blooms fade. Ruby Spice Summersweet has lustrous, serrated, obovate to oblong leaves that are dark green all year long but turn golden brown and yellow in the fall. The deciduous shrub is perfect for shrub borders, foundations, or mass planting. The ideal growing conditions are average, medium to wet soils with full sun to partial shade.
