Ilex Latifolia Lusterleaf Holly blooms dull, tiny, greenish aromatic, 4 to 5-petaled flowers in spring. Lusterleaf Holly is cascaded in the alternate, simple, coriaceous, oblong to ovate-oblong, obtuse, or shortly acuminate leaves with shiny dark green uppersides and yellow-green undersides. The leaves are serrated with black glands at the end of each tooth. Lusterleaf Holly creates an impact on hedges, borders, and mass plantings. The multi-stemmed, evergreen tree thrives in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained soils. Lusterleaf Holly has a pyramidal and rounded habit of growth. The tree also bears deep, dull orange-red globose berries appearing in dense masses that persist through spring.
