Taxodium distichum 'Falling Waters', commonly known as the Weeping Bald Cypress, is a distinctive deciduous conifer celebrated for its elegant, cascading branches and fine, feathery foliage. Discovered in a seedling planting in 1990 by Robert M. Lindsey in Oklahoma, it was observed for 20 years before being patented in 2012. This cultivar reaches a mature height of 10 to 20 feet with a spread of 8 to 15 feet, forming a graceful, weeping silhouette that adds architectural interest to landscapes. Its bright green needles turn a striking coppery-orange in the fall before shedding, revealing the tree's unique structure during winter. Adaptable to various soil conditions, including wet and standing water, 'Falling Waters' thrives in full sun to light shade, making it an excellent choice for diverse garden settings.
