Pennisetum hybrid ‘Tift 10’, marketed as First Knight® Fountain Grass, is a dramatic ornamental grass selected by Dr. Wayne Hanna at the University of Georgia for its exceptionally dark, almost black‑purple foliage that forms an upright, sword‑like center with gracefully arching outer leaves. A member of the Royal Collection of Pennisetum hybrids (derived from crosses involving Pennisetum glaucum, P. purpureum, and P. squamulatum), it thrives in heat, offers excellent disease resistance, and performs well as a specimen or in mass plantings in Zones 7–11, or as an annual elsewhere.
