Description

Weston’s Innocence is a vigorous, late-season deciduous azalea hybrid derived from North American species (notably Rhododendron viscosum × Rhododendron arborescens) developed by the Mezitt/Weston nursery program in New England. It features fragrant clusters of white, trumpet-shaped blooms (with a very pale yellow dorsal flare) in late spring to early summer, above glossy mid-green foliage that turns burgundy-red in fall. The foliage is notably mildew-resistant and the plant exhibits strong cold-hardiness (down to about -25 °F/-32 °C) making it a standout choice for cooler climates. It has been recognized for its garden merit, receiving the “Rhododendron of the Year” award for the North East region by the American Rhododendron Society (ARS).
