Solidago Nemoralis Gray Goldenrod

Solidago nemoralis, commonly known as gray goldenrod or old field goldenrod, is a compact goldenrod ideal for naturalized garden settings. Its striking yellow wand-like flowers atop gray-green stems and leaves bring vibrant color to any late summer landscape. This plant is highly drought-tolerant and adaptable, thriving in sunny spots with slightly acidic, average to dry soil. While it can spread quickly in optimal conditions, it's less aggressive than other goldenrods, making it relatively easy to manage, growing to around two feet. Gray goldenrod is perfect for low wildflower meadows or pollinator gardens, attracting native butterflies, long-tongued and short-tongued bees with its abundant nectar. In winter, its seeds provide food for goldfinches.
