Philodendron giganteum, known as the Giant Philodendron, is a tropical hemiepiphytic plant native to the Caribbean and northern South America, first described by Heinrich Wilhelm Schott in 1856 . This species is notable for its strikingly large, glossy, heart- to elephant-ear-shaped leaves—sometimes reaching up to 2 ft long—on robust climbing stems. In its native habitat, it climbs trees in moist forest understories, producing sweet-scented thermogenic inflorescences.
