Description

Acer rubrum ‘RVF-1’ (trading as Red Sky® Red Maple) is a vigorous, upright-oval cultivar of the native eastern North American red maple, selected for its dependable, intense late-season red foliage and strong performance in heat and humidity. Discovered as a branch mutation of ‘October Glory’ in Georgia, the tree was propagated for landscape use and shows an upright central leader form, reliable red fall color even in warm climates, and good disease resistance. According to its plant patent description, it offers a faster growth rate, consistent grey-red foliage in early November, and high tolerance to extreme heat and humidity.
