Description

Acer buergerianum ‘RustyAllen’ (trademark Blood Moon®) is a selection of Trident Maple noted for its dense, compact, pyramidal-to-rounded habit, striking seasonal foliage and attractive exfoliating bark. New growth emerges bright red to orange, matures to dark green during summer, then reliably turns bright red to dark maroon (occasionally orange) in autumn, giving notable multi-season interest; the bark also flakes to show gray-brown to orange tones for winter interest. It was introduced commercially and is offered by Bold Spring (Blood Moon® line) and related wholesale sources and was granted a U.S. plant patent as the cultivar ‘RustyAllen’.
