The Hedberg Story

The Hedberg Family has a long history of supplying construction products in the Twin Cities.

In the early 1900s, Fred Hedberg began a business with a team of horses hauling sand and gravel and a few hard workers digging basements in south Minneapolis. Years later, Fred had become a pioneer in the sand & gravel, concrete block, and redi-mix concrete industries under the name Hedberg Friedheim & Co. and later, Hedberg & Sons Co. Today’s Hedberg companies also arose from humble beginnings.

Starting in a rented converted garage located at Hopkins Crossroad and Cedar Lake Road, Fred’s grandson, Steve Hedberg, founded what would be known as “Hedberg Aggregates Inc.” in 1987. Steve, along with his small crew of eight, primarily sold decorative rock and sand on a cash/carry basis for do-it-yourselfers. Then, to better reflect the products his company had grown to represent, the company refined the name to “Hedberg Landscape and Masonry Supplies”, then to simply “Hedberg Supply”.
