Description

Juncus effusus ‘Gold Strike’ (often sold as Gold Strike Rush or Striped Rush) is a variegated selection of the common soft rush chosen for its vivid vertical gold striping that runs the full length of each deep-green, cylindrical stem. This clump-forming, broadleaf evergreen, grass-like perennial thrives in wet or boggy soils and will even tolerate shallow standing water, making it a standout for ponds, rain gardens, and saturated low spots. Compared with older variegated forms such as ‘Cuckoo’, ‘Gold Strike’ was selected for much more consistent golden striping along each blade and has inspired later twisty selections like ‘Lemon Twist’ that build on its striking coloration.
