Gleditsia Triacanthos Var. Inermis 'Shademaster' Thornless Honeylocust is a deciduous tree with strong characteristics. It produces yellow catkin flowers in late spring, and a short-cycle of yellow leaves in early fall. You may never need to rake! If you want to grow a shade-tolerant grass below, the foliage of the 'Shademaster',made up of long leaflets, allows a nice dappled sun and shade below. 'Shademaster' Thornless Honeylocust is tolerant of many soil types and wet and dry conditions, but thrives in average soils with full sun to partial shade. This variety is mostly seedless, perhaps showing a few pods after a decade or so.
