Depending on the cultivar, single or double red, pink, or white blossoms emerge throughout the late spring and summer. Tiny woody capsules containing seeds take the place of the flowers. New Zealand Tea Tree is an upright shrub reaching 6 to 10 feet tall and wide. It displays little, needle-like leaves that, when crushed, release a pleasant scent. The evergreen shrub thrives in full sun or light shade on fertile, acidic, well-drained soils.
