Lysiloma Latisiliquum Wild Tamarind

Lysiloma latisiliquum, commonly known as Wild Tamarind or False Tamarind, is a fast-growing, medium to large-sized evergreen tree native to South Florida, the Caribbean, and parts of Central America. It features a broad, flattened crown with delicate, feathery bipinnate leaves that provide dappled shade. In spring, it produces small, fragrant, white puffball flowers that attract butterflies and bees, followed by flat, twisted seed pods that mature to dark brown. Highly tolerant of drought and salt, Wild Tamarind thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, making it ideal for coastal and urban landscapes. Its durable wood is prized for carving and boat building.
