Description

Camellia x ‘High Fragrance’ is an evergreen ornamental camellia cultivar (a hybrid involving Camellia lutchuensis) prized for its large, softly pink, semi-double (peony-form) blooms and intoxicating fragrance that may develop most strongly a day or two after the petals open. It grows with an upright-to-open habit and glossy dark green leaves, blooming from late winter into early spring (or mid- to late season) when few other shrubs are in flower. While many camellias are virtually scentless, this cultivar stands out for combining showy size and fragrance, a trait introduced through deliberate breeding efforts involving scented species.
