Description

Musa sikkimensis ‘Ever Red’ is a cold-hardy selection of the Darjeeling banana, native to the eastern Himalayas and prized for its dramatic, tropical foliage. Its paddle-shaped leaves, which may reach 4–13 ft tall, display striking maroon-red stripes and a red midrib that persists throughout the season. It combines robust bamboo-like stems and wind-resistant foliage, making it suitable for garden specimens or large containers in zones as cold as 5 with winter mulch. ‘Ever Red’ gained recognition as a finalist in the 2024 Chelsea Plant of the Year competition, adding to its prestige.
