Description

Cynanchum marnierianum, commonly known as “Bundle of Sticks,” is a striking Madagascan stem succulent in the Apocynaceae family, notable for its leafless, gray-green or reddish-brown rubbery stems that resemble a cluster of dead twigs, perfected as camouflage in its native grass‑ and stone‑strewn habitats. Endemic to Madagascar, it belongs to a group of about nine succulent Cynanchum species characterized by warty stems and minimal foliage. Under cultivation, it thrives in very bright light to evoke its reddish hues, regularly producing unusual small yellow‑green orb‑shaped flowers with white centers several times a year. The plant readily emits a white latex when stems are cut or damaged and is easily propagated via cuttings.
