Description

Gilded Hearts® Texas Redbud is a striking golden-foliaged selection of Texas (Texas-type) redbud that combines heat, drought, and sun tolerance with ornamental spring blooms. In early spring it produces clusters of lavender-pink pea-type flowers on bare wood, before leaf emergence. The leaves then emerge a reddish-orange hue, mature to a vivid golden yellow under sun, and gradually soften to chartreuse green later in the season, retaining better color fidelity under hot, sunny conditions than many yellow-leaf selections. It tends to maintain its golden foliage without sun bleaching or scorching, making it suitable for warm climates, and forms a small tree with upright and arching branching to produce a rounded crown.
