Description

‘Creel’s Gold’ is a semi‑evergreen, bushy form of native North American St. John’s Wort, valued for its lustrous green foliage that turns golden in autumn and its prolific bright yellow flowers that appear midsummer and last into fall. It typically reaches 3–5 ft high and wide, forming a rounded to slightly arching mound of slender, copper‑barked stems. Highly adaptable and low-maintenance, it thrives in average, well-drained soils, tolerates drought and thin/clay soils, and attracts pollinators while demonstrating deer‑resistance. Older stems feature exfoliating bark that adds winter interest. It is hardy from USDA Zones 5a–9b.
