Description

Sweet Emotion® (Zabelia tyaihyoni syn. Abelia mosanensis ‘SMNAMDS’) is a hardy, fragrant, deciduous shrub selected for its exceptional cold tolerance and intoxicating jasmine-like scent. In mid to late spring it produces clusters of tubular, two-toned blossoms (deep pink buds opening to white or pale pink) that perfume the garden and attract butterflies. Its upright, somewhat arching habit forms a rounded, densely branched shrub 5-6 ft tall and wide, and in fall the glossy foliage turns warm shades of orange and red. This selection is notable for being one of the most winter-resilient abelias, surviving down into USDA Zone 4, and is protected by U.S. plant patent status.
