Use the correct pump check valve from SiteOne Landscape Supply so contaminated water doesn’t backflow. An irrigation foot valve is a specific manual check valve for preventing backwater when your client is drawing from an underground well, pond or another source that requires a suction pump. They use a spring-loaded design and are placed at the end of the suction line so water doesn’t backflow when the user turns the pump off. Foot valves also prime the pump when it’s not in use, averting “dry runs” that cause wear and tear.
